A New Year, Same Old Shenanigans

December 31, 2009 Leave a comment

Hey everyone and welcome to the brand new SouthernReflector.com! We hope you enjoy this new site as it will be your source for all things Reflector between our two issues a semester. Well, two more issues are in the book and we as an editorial staff feel that it was a very successful semester. We gave you our first edition, better known as the one with the giant swastika on the cover, which featured a story about how our little college town of Statesboro, Ga. was once home to a Nazi containment camp. I would like to give a big thank you to Robert Greene, the author of this piece. Robert was never appropriately acknowledged as the writer of this story so I, on behalf of the entire Reflector staff would like to thank him on a job well done this past semester.

Some students were shocked by our swastika bearing first issue, but boy did they have more surprises in store when our second edition, properly deemed the “Sin Edition,” hit the shelves. The sin issue featured a multitude of controversial stories with topics ranging from STD’s to perhaps our most controversial piece in the magazines history, a reflection from our staff writer Ruben Haslett, where he recollected his past experience with a game called “balcony bingo,” where the dice number rolled would be the room number at a gay resort where Ruben, and all of the other participants, would go to the corresponding number and have sex with the occupants in the room.

It should be noted that some or all of the views expressed in the Southern Reflector do not reflect the opinions of the entire staff, however, we as a staff feel that all of the content that is published in the magazine is quality material that deserves to be published, no matter if the topic(s) of what is being published may be considered offensive or controversial in nature to some.

With that said, we hope that you enjoyed our two editions of the Fall 2009 semester, but now let’s move on shall we.

It’s 2010 baby!

With the new year comes two brand new spanking editions to tickle your fancy and for all you haters out there, to give you something to blog about.

Our first edition will be hitting selves in February (official date to soon be released) and will aptly be named the “Feel Good” edition. This edition will numb the pain and ease the eyes of readers that are still suffering from a hangover from reading the Sin Edition. The Feel Good issue will feature uplifting stories of how to get your life in order by creating a good feng sui in your living space, to counting down the top ten feel good songs and movies of all time. But for you Sin Edition lovers out there fear not, the Reflector hasn’t forgotten about you! We will still have plenty of gripping page turners that will keep you occupied in class when you’re avoiding paying attention to the lecture.

For now, I hope you enjoy our new website and check back often for new updates and improvements. Also be sure to be a fan of us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!

Until next time, here’s to the new year. May it bring everything that we want and more!

Happy New Year and stay classy Statesboro!

Yours truly,

Matt Mauney
